After taking courses with Bev Brazelton, noted mixed media artist
and author, I was inspired to try her intensely layered style on my
own. Working with multiple layers of glazes, images and ephemera,
as well as utilizing many interactive elements such as drawers,
windows, inserted pages (tip-ins) and a higher degree of
abstraction, I began this book.
It is a work in progress, and for now is something of a mystery. I
have no rigid plan for it, although I decided to use many images of
cats and shoes -- two categories that never fail to delight me -- and
to incorporate the number of the page somewhere on the page in a
variety of ways. Other than that, it comes along according to whim.
I am enjoying the process, and although it is developing slowly, I
discover something every time I pick it up to start a new page.
